Prouvé, Jean

French architect and designer, 1901-1984

Trained as a metalworker, and having no formal education in architecture, Prouvé designed furniture and buildings in a mostly industrial context. He is known for his innovations in designing lightweight prefabricated structures from modular metal parts, though few of his designs for these structures were realized.
