Japanese conceptual artist, born 1935

Japanese conceptual artist graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1958. In 1963 he founded the group Hi-Red Center with Genpei Akasegawa and Jirō Takematsu, and carried out a variety of actions through 1964. He continued to show solo works in galleries and museums after this time. He is perhaps most well known for his 'Clothes Pegs Assert Churning Action' piece of 1963.
