Kagan, Vladimir

American furniture designer, 1927-2016

American furniture designer was born in Germany but emigrated with his family in 1937 to France, then to New York. He studied architecture at Columbia, but did not graduate, and worked in his father's cabinetry shop. He soon became a popular designer of modernist furniture in the 1950s. His work went in and out of style, but had a resurgence of popularity in the last decades of his life.
