Painted in opaque watercolour on paper, a prince, seated and smoking a huqqa, is surrounded by a group of courtiers and retainers, whose clothes are stained with yellow and crimson from the Holi festival. In the foreground are two servants with lighted torches and vessals for re-fuelling them. Four dancing girls, assisted by two male musicians are performing to the right. In the centre stand two palace officials, with red staffs.
