Painting, in opaque watercolour and gold on paper, illustrated manuscript page from the Iskandarnama of Nizami. The text on both sides is written in nasta'liq in four columns. The illustration at the foot of one side shows two men carrying a draped bier from which a hand protrudes, against a yellow background with stylized plants in red and pink. They are preceded by a man leading a horse and followed by three male mourners; the procession is going leftwards.
