Painting, in opaque watercolour on paper, portrait of Raja Dalip Singh and a courtier (1695-1741). The raja sits cross-legged on a vertically-striped red dari. He wears a pale yellow patterned jama, tied with a white and gold band. In his ear there is a large, jewelled earring. In his right hand he holds a brown rosary and his left hand rests on a katar (dagger) at his waist. In the foreground a green and gold sword lies, propped against a pale pink cushion. To the right of the picture, in front of the raja, stands a bearded courtier with his hands stretched out, palms together, towards him. He wears a white jama and turban, and in his sash a brownish-orange katar. The blue-grey background extends from the dari to the navy-blue border.
