To prepare surface to paint on / disolve [sic] balsom [sic] of coparia [?] with benzene until / grease is out of balsam then spread over ground / or take casaine [sic] and water. to keep casaine [sic] / from decaying put in a pinch of salt or almond / oil or camphor disolved [sic] in turpentine. To take / chalkyness [sic] from work varnish with wax dissolved turpentine.; last page, in graphite: [undeciphered word] 2 glue then put chalk licative [?] / white lead linseed oil. [2nd line underlined] / Glue [?] 2. then spread [?] with glue / & chalk.
