The artist often featured highways and road signs in his paintings and prints, such as this untitled one. Combining simple geometric shapes with bold patterning drawn from road markers, the image was produced by D’Arcangelo for Peace Portfolio I, a collective project organized to raise funds for House of Representative candidates who opposed the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was one of many political causes that Allan D’Arcangelo felt strongly about, and he remained politically active throughout his entire career.
