Straight Pin, c. 500 BC. Italy, Etruscan, late 6th Century BC. Gold and glass; overall: 6.4 cm (2 1/2 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Max Ratner 1978.25 Although it appears to be a garnet, the stone in this pin was determined to be glass by close examination by two gemologists from the Natural History Museum.
