Statuette of Sekhmet, 664–525 BC. Egypt, Late Period, Dynasty 26 or later. Bronze, figure solid cast, obelisk hollow cast; overall: 20.4 x 4.6 x 12.6 cm (8 1/16 x 1 13/16 x 4 15/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Bequest of James Parmelee 1940.669 The lion-headed goddess Sekhmet strides forward wearing a long, tight-fitting dress and striated wig indicating her divine nature. Behind her is an obelisk that is hollow and originally open at the bottom. Her left hand would have held an attribute such as a staff, which is now lost.
