Shawabty of Nectanebo II, 360–342 BC. Egypt, Late Period, Dynasty 30, reign of Nectanebo II. Pale turquoise faience; overall: 19 x 6.1 x 3.8 cm (7 1/2 x 2 3/8 x 1 1/2 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust 1920.1989 Nectanebo II is the last Egyptian native to be pharaoh. This small statuette has idealized facial features and bears an inscription on the lower half that contains a wish for the afterlife.

- Translation: The illuminated one, the Osiris, king Nakhthorheb-Meryhathor, vindicated, says, "O these shabtys, if the Osiris, king Nakhthorheb-Meryhathor, vindicated, is counted off to do any of the work in the necropolis, there being obstacles, placed therin, as a man about his duties, 'Here I am!' you shall say. If you are counted off at any time therein to cause the fields to grow, to irrigate the river banks, or to ferry the sand from the West to the East and vice-versa, 'Here I am!' you shall say." Remark: Eight registers wraps around the lower body, beginning and ending in the rear.
