Egyptian, Classical, Ancient Near Eastern Art

In the Thirteenth Dynasty, statues of "middleclass" Egyptians such as minor bureaucrats, servants, and artists frequently showed their subjects in family groups rather than individually. This badly damaged family statuette was made for a humble man (second from left) and his wife (second from right).
