Asian Art

This cup has a tall, perforated stem like that of pedestal bowls also on display. However, here the stem expands into a perforated bell that has two clay pellets inside to produce a sound. Spherical bells also appear in ancient Korean cast-bronze artifacts such as horse fittings.
